Sylvia Browne (October 19, 1936 – November 20, 2013) was an American author who described herself as a psychic and spiritual medium. She gained popularity through her appearances on television and radio, particularly The Montel Williams Show, and through her numerous books on topics such as psychic phenomena, life after death, and future predictions.
Browne made many predictions throughout her career, some of which were highly publicized. However, she was also widely criticized for the inaccuracy of her predictions and for giving false hope to people, particularly in missing persons cases. Many of her predictions never came to pass, which led to skepticism and controversy surrounding her claims of paranormal abilities.
Despite the criticism, Browne maintained a dedicated following and continued to publish books and offer readings until her death in 2013. She founded the Nirvana Foundation, a church that focused on gnostic Christianity. Her legacy remains controversial, with some remembering her for providing comfort to those grieving and others condemning her for profiting from others' vulnerabilities with unsubstantiated claims.
